SUNY Purchase Gets Huge Win Over Warriors

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Vaughn College Warriors squarred off against the SUNY Purchase Panthers on Tuesday, November 8. The Warriors entered the non-conference contest coming off a tough season-opener loss to PSU Scranton over the weekend. The men's basketball team looked to bounce back against a tough experienced Panther team.

The Warriors were missing their big presence in the paint, Fabrizio Dottin (Queenns, NY). Dottin suffered a minor injury against the PSU Scranton Nittany Lions and will be out for a couple of weeks. Vaughn was led by freshman point guard Jaime Sanchez (Bronx, NY). Sanchez scored eight points, dished out three assists and had three steals. Ean Chambers (Ewing Township, NJ) added seven points. Beandre Wafer (Texarkana, TX) chipped in six points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, paired with three assists and one steal.

Vaughn struggled to score the basketball in both halves. They were out-rebounded by the Panthers 61-41. Despite the huge loss the inexperienced Warriors showed signs of improvement. They shot over 70 percent from the freethrow line and had 10 players register points in the game.

The Warriors will continue their tough road schedule this weekend. They will travel to Rhode Island and Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday.
