Ndiaye's Hat Trick Lifts Warriors Over Webbies In Season Opener

GLEN CLOVE, N.Y. - The Vaughn College men's soccer team kicked-off their season against the Webb Institute Webbies on Sunday, September 11. Before the match both teams lined up for a moment of silence in honor of all of the lives that were lost and families that were impacted on 9/11. The Warriors were excited to get back on the field after a difficult 2021-22 season.

There were plenty of new faces in Warrior uniforms that had major impacts in the first regular season game. Newcommer Macoumba Ndiaye (Harlem, NY) scored the first goal of the season for the Warriors in the 18th minute. Ndiaye headed the ball into the back of the net off of a deflected shot by freshman wing, Cowanjah Baltimore (Queens, NY). The Webbies would respond with a goal of their own to even the score at 1-1.

Odail Lewis (Queens, NY) assisted Ndiaye for his second goal of the match. Lewis gave Ndiaye a beautiful direct pass through the midfield to put the Warriors back on top of the Webbies 2-1. Baltimore ended the first half with a breakaway goal to give Vaughn a commanding 3-1 lead.

The Webbies came out motivated in the second half. They scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to even the score at 3-3. Ndiaye found the back of the net for the third time in the game to elevate the Warriors in their season opener against the Webbies. Ndiaye's hatrick was the first for the Warriors since Denis Moshchenko did it back in the 2016-17 season against Webb Institute.

The win helps the Warriors set the tone for a promising season ahead.
