How It Happened

First Half

Penn State Mont Alto found itself down by as many as 13 points in the first half as the defense helped keep the team in the game while the shooting was cold to start the evening. As Penn State Schuylkill leading 26-13 with 4:25 left in the half, Caleb Eckert went on a run by himself to help cut the deficit to only four at the break. In the final four minutes of the half, Eckert scored 11 of his 16 first half points to keep the game managable at the half. Eckert led all scorers at the half with 16 points to go along with two rebounds and a steal. Dariel Rivera was Mont Alto's other leading scorer with six points.

A balanced scoring attack helped Schuylkill in the first half with three scorers who tallied six points each. Starters Antwuan Byrd, Pau Pumarola and reserve Ryan Worrell each had six points in the first twenty minutes of action for Schuylkill.

Second Half

Penn State Mont Alto tried to make things interesting in the second half, but were never able to cut the lead to less than one in the early going as Eckert converted on a three point attempt from Nathan Osei in the first minute of the second half. Mont Alto was trailing only 28-27 at the time. The teams traded baskets for much of the second half, but Mont Alto couldn't get the defensive stops to trim the lead. Schuylkill shot a blistering 60% in the second half as they went 17 of 28 from the field with three from behind the arc. Dashawn Dixon and Andrew Sepp each had 12 second half points for Schuylkill and Antwaun Byrd added ten.

Cameron Williams had a strong second half for Mont Alto as he scored all 13 of his points in the game's final twenty minutes including three three-pointers. Caleb Eckert scored seven second half points and Nevaes Gordon added four.
