SMCC Falls To UMA In Conference Opener

AUGUSTA, Maine – The Seawolves (5-2) went into halftime with a three-point lead, but the Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) staged a second-half comeback to earn the victory at the Augusta Civic Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Sophomore captain Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) led SMCC with 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals, shooting 11-19 from the field. Senior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Bode Meader (Gorham, Maine) added nine points, four rebounds and four assists. First-year Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.) recorded six points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks off the bench. 

The Seawolves were held to 37.3 percent shooting from the field and 21.2 percent from long-range as a team. Elijah Smith led UMA with 17 points and four rebounds.

Pyzynski: 29 points (11-19 FG), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals
Cromwell: 11 points, 9 rebounds
Meader: 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists

The action continues when the Seawolves visit Paul Smith's College on Saturday, Nov. 19 in another Yankee Small College Conference showdown. Tip-off in New York is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
