NHTI Lynx win USCAA DII Men's Basketball Championship

UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania (NHTI) – The Lynx are USCAA National Champions after defeating Penn State Greater Allegheny by a 74-70 final.

NHTI Head Coach Paul Hogan captured his second USCAA National Championship with the victory his last coming in 2005. "I am just so ecstatic for our guys, we had great players on and off the floor. We showed a lot of heart and pulled it out," Hogan said. 

The Lynx trailed for most of the contest and was down 64-63 with 4:58 on the clock. NHTI ended the game on a 11-6 run to seal the victory. J'Quavious Thurmond (Monticello, GA) led the charge in his last collegiate game with 19 points (8-12 FG, 3-5 FT), six rebounds, four steals and three assists. "I just can't put it into words it's a great feeling," Thurmond said.

Sean Riley (Washington, DC) contributed 19 points (7-9 FG, 2-4 3-FG, 3-4 FT), and five rebounds. "We had hard work and dedication and just got it done and won the championship." 

Shaquille Barrett (Houston, TX) came in the clutch once again with 12 points (4-8 FG, 2-6 3-FG, 2-3 FT), four rebounds and a pair of steals. Mustapha Koroma (Lowell, MA) added 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 FT) off the bench in the win.
