Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Lady Mustangs used a patchwork lineup and several different formations in their home conference game against the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves. Unfortunately, SMCC dominated possession and shot attempts, pulling out the 2-0 victory.  

A Southern Maine goal by Samantha Weir, assisted by Ryleigh Lord at the 6-minute mark would be the only scoring of the first half.  The Mustang defense, led by Jade Sturtevant (Litchfield, Maine), Thea Quick (Buckfield, ME) and Stephanie Jones (Westport Island, ME) with Samantha Moody (Winthrop, ME), Taylor Henry (Rumford, ME) and Leya Harvey (Poland, ME) rotating in and out of a three and four back defensive alignment held tight against a continuous SMCC attack.  

The Mustangs came out of halftime continuing to juggle the lineup and formation in an effort to mount an attack but the score would remain at 1-0 until the 80^th minute when the Avery Bleakley put Southern Maine up 2-0 with ten minutes to go. The Central Maine defense and goalkeeper Skyler Henry (Waterford, CT) played a stellar game against a Southern Maine defense that took 25 shots to the Mustangs 5.     

Central Maine plays at home this Saturday, September 28 against USCAA Division I powerhouse, Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, in a non-conference match-up at 2pm on the Mustang Turf Complex.
