Women’s Volleyball Goes Down in Three

DUBOIS, Pa. – In a conference game against Penn State Dubois, Penn State New Kensington dropped three sets to the home team. The women are placed at 0-2 in conference play.

The first and second sets were looking well in New Kensington's favor. With the scores only varying by a few points, it seemed like it could've been anyone's game. In the end, it was Dubois who took the win each time; always breaking away from New Kensington and going on a run with scoring. New Kensington fell 25-16 in those two sets.

Dubois put up big points on the board early within the third set, giving themselves a head start on New Kensington. Dubois kept their considerable lead and ended the game at 25-7.

For New Kensington, libero Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) had 11 digs against Dubois' hitters. Right behind was Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) who had ten digs. Flick led the offense with five kills, and Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) trailed with four.

Senior Lindsey Hessom (Leechburg, Pa./ Kiski Area) added eight assists.

The women will verse Penn State Shenango during their next match on Wed., September 18. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
