Lions lose heartbreaker to PSU Mont Alto.

Mont Alto, PA- New Kensington traveled to PSU Mont Alto yesterday for their second PSUAC game in as many days. Both teams played good basketball on both ends, trading the lead back and forth throughout.

The Lions started strong, jumping out to an 8-point lead with a little over 5 minutes remaining in the first half, but Mont Alto finished on a 13-2 run to take a 25-22 lead into the break.

Mont Alto continued their momentum coming out of the locker room, jumping out to a 37-27 lead four minutes into the second half. New Kensington used a 13-3 run of its own over the next four minutes to tie things up at 40 apiece with 12:53 to play.

The Lions fell behind by double digits again with a little over 4 minutes left to play but fought all the way back once again to take a 60-59 lead on a 3 pointer by sophomore forward Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia) with :29 seconds to play. Unfortunately, Mont Alto was able to respond, getting the game winning layup with :5 seconds left on the clock.

New Kensington displayed a balanced scoring attack all game, as three players finished in double figures. Kojic led all scorers with 17 points, while fellow big man Benjamin Cunningham (Woodbridge, VA) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Aubrey Feaster (Buffalo, NY) led the Lions reserves, chipping in 11 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

The Lions will look to get back in the win column as they host Penn State Du Bois on Tuesday, November 29th in another conference showdown at the athletic center.
