POTTERSVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team fell to the #1 Lynx from NHTI in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) semifinal contest on Saturday Nov. 2.
The Lynx would strike first in the 22nd minute when Piper Flood buried a one-on-one opportunity on a pass by Maggie Brown. Neither team found another scoring opportunity for the remainder of the half; the Lynx entered the break ahead 1-0.
The strong presence out of the NHTI midfield found another goal, this one at the 72 minute-mark by Kayla Richard on an assist from Flood. The Lynx added one more late in the game courtesy of Darci Stone, Flood credited with her second assist of the night.
The Lynx combined for 19 shots in the contest, landing 12 on target. The Seawolves recorded just two shots on target.
NHTI went on to be crowned conference champions following a penalty kick shootout win over Paul Smith's College. SMCC concluded its season at 6-4-4 overall.
