AUBURN, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team traveled to the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
The Seawolves would grab the first set over the Mustangs, winning 25-21 to take a 1-0 lead. SMCC extended its lead in the second, winning by a 7-point margin. The Mustangs spoiled a sweep, taking one back and cutting the Seawolves' lead in half. SMCC would go on to win the fourth set 25-21.
First-year Lillian Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) had a spectacular performance landing 10 kills and six service aces—leading her team in points with 17.0. First-year Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) totaled 11 kills off 26 attempts and added five assists. Captain Anna White (Buxton, Maine) and first-year Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) combined for 35 digs and four service aces.
The Seawolves jump to a 15-2 record, 10-1 in conference play.
SMCC returns home for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 12, to play host to YSCC-opponent NHTI. First serve inside the HUB Gymnasium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
