UC-Clermont Cougars Defeat Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Behind Steady Offensive Production

UC-Clermont Cougars built their lead a few runs at a time in an 8-2 victory over Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles on Sunday.
A single by Jackson Roseburrough put UC-Clermont Cougars on the board in the bottom of the first.
Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a walk by Caleb Campbell, and a double by Alex Biars.
A double by Grant Gillespie gave UC-Clermont Cougars the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second.
UC-Clermont Cougars added one run in the third after Tanner Jackson hit a sacrifice fly.
Matt Peer earned the win for UC-Clermont Cougars. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Cayden Castillo took the loss for Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles. The righty went six innings, surrendering eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits, striking out one and walking one.
Matt Jesse and Nathan Ashcraft each collected two hits for Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles. Biars went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles turned one double play in the game.

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Fall After Strong Showing By UC-Clermont Cougars

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles had trouble keeping up with UC-Clermont Cougars in an 11-1 loss on Sunday.
UC-Clermont Cougars opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to two singles. UC-Clermont Cougars first got on the board when Cody Sunday singled, scoring one run.
UC-Clermont Cougars added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Bubba Allen doubled down the left field line, Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles committed an error, and Sunday singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Dakota Foltz stepped on the hill first for Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles. The pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Nick Browning stepped on the mound first for UC-Clermont Cougars. The starter allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Caleb Salgado went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles turned two double plays in the game.
UC-Clermont Cougars tallied 12 hits in the game. Sunday led UC-Clermont Cougars with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 on the day.
