MANOR COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS ITS FIRST-EVER USCAA MATCH VERSUS LEHIGH CARBON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—United Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I Manor College (1-1-0) junior Myla Keller (Perkasie, PA/Perkasie) scored two first-half goals and freshman Ava Burski (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) contributed three assists as the Blue Jays defeated the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX Division III Lehigh Carbon Community College Cougars (1-3-0), 4-1.

The Blue Jays previously hosted the Cougars on September 26, 2019 when Manor was a NJCAA Region XIX Division III member.  

Manor opened up the scoring when junior Lauren Brown's (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) pass outside the 18-yard line went to Keller.  Keller's chip shot into the upper left-hand corner of the net for her first goal of the season (14:56). This was the first time the Blue Jays scored first since joining the USCAA for the 2021 season.  They previously scored first when Dominique Cailo scored an unassisted goal at the 12-minute mark versus the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Montgomery County Community College Mustangs on September 26, 2017.  This was also the earliest goal the Blue Jays scored since joining the USCAA.  The last time they scored this early was when Calio scored on a direct kick at the seven-minutes mark versus the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Bucks County Community College Centurions on September 18, 2018.  Lehigh Carbon tied the match when scored on a corner kick that went off of a Manor player.  The Blue Jays took the lead for good when Burski's pass outside of the 18 went to Keller.  Keller's shot went into the lower right-hand corner of the net for her second goal of the match (34:25).  It was also Keller's first collegiate multi-goal match.  It was the first time that the Blue Jays scored two goals in a match since October 17, 2023 versus USCAA Division II Central Pennsylvania College Knights. Manor led, 2-1 at halftime. This was the first time the Blue Jays led at halftime since joining the USCAA for the 2021 season.  Manor outshot Lehigh Carbon in the first half, 10 (seven on goal) to five (three on goal).

The Blue Jays added to its lead in the second half when Burski's pass went to Brown outside the 18.  Brown's shot went into the bottom right-hand corner of the net for her first collegiate goal (51:22).  It was also Burski's second assist of the match and her first collegiate multi-assist match.  Manor scored three goals in a match for the first time since joining the USCAA and since October 17, 2017 versus NJCAA Region XIX Division I Lackawanna College.  The Blue Jays finished the scoring when the Cougars' goal kick went to Burski outside of the 18.  Burski's pass went to sophomore Jacqueline Gardner (Philadelphia, PA/MaST Community Charter School).  Gardner's chip shot went into the upper left-hand corner of the net for her first collegiate goal (78:27).  It was the first time the Blue Jays scored four goals in a match since September 26, 2017 versus Montgomery County.  Manor outshot Lehigh Carbon in the second half, seven (four on goal) to four (none on goal).  The Blue Jays outshot the Cougars for the match, 17 (11 on goal) to nine (seven on goal). Manor's 17 overall shots are the most since joining the USCAA, surpassing 13 versus USCAA Division II Bucks County on September 21, 2021.  The 11 shots on goal, surpassing eight versus Bucks County on October 25, 2023.  

More Firsts: This was Manor's first win since September 26, 2017 versus Montgomery County (5-4 in overtime), breaking a 33-match overall and 16-home match losing streak. This was also the Blue Jays' first regulation win since October 13, 2012 versus the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Union County Owls (11-2), which was also the last time they were at 0.500 in a season at any time during the regular season (6-6-0).

The Defense Rests and Additional Firsts: Manor's nine overall shots allowed versus Lehigh Carbon is the fewest allowed since joining the USCAA, surpassing the 11 they allowed at Bucks County on October 19, 2023.  The seven shots on goal tie for the fewest allowed since they also played the Centurions on October 19, 2023.  Manor also allowed its fewest goals in a match overall and at home since October 2, 2012 versus Montgomery County (2-1 win in overtime).  The Blue Jays allowed its fewest regulation goals and at home since September 22, 2011 (3-1 win versus the County College of Morris).  Freshman Samantha Santos (Upper Darby, PA) became the first Blue Jay Women's Soccer goalkeeper to win an USCAA match and the first since Alize Felton versus Montgomery County on September 26, 2017.

Individual goal scoring feats: Keller's multi-goal effort was the first by a Manor Women's Soccer player since joining the USCAA. She was the first Blue Jay Women's Soccer player to score two goals in a match since Erica Foreman accomplished it versus Montgomery County on September 26, 2017.

Individual assist feats: Burski's multi-assist match was the first by a Manor Women's Soccer player since joining the USCAA.  

Series Record (Since 2021): The season series is tied at one win apiece.

Next Match: Manor travels to play USCAA Division II and Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) Bucks County (0-0-0 overall, 0-0 ESAC) on Thursday, October 3 at 4 p.m. in Newtown, Pennsylvania.  Bucks County swept the 2023 season series from Manor (4-0 at Bucks County on October 19 and 6-0 at Manor on October 25). The Centurions have won all three match-ups versus the Blue Jays (two at Manor) since joining the USCAA in 2021.  Manor last defeated Bucks County on October 19, 2011 (7-0) when they were both NJCAA Region XIX Division III members.  It is Manor's only season series win since 2008.
