Huskies Comeback Falls Short

Pottersville, NY – The Huskies looked to take down the top team in the YSCC standings as they hosted the Central Maine Community College Mustangs Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs came out strong and quickly built a double-digit lead. They continued to control the game, but the Huskies would not go away. The Huskies were down by as many as 22 in the first half but cut the lead to 14 at halftime.

As the second half began, the Mustangs again started off strong and increased their lead. With under 13 minutes left to play the Mustangs had built their largest lead of the game at 24 and seemingly on their way to run away with the victory. However, the Huskies remained composed and would begin to chip away at the lead. Hayden Jordan and Javion Glenn led the charge for the Huskies in the 2nd half scoring 27 of the 42 second-half points. Javion Glenn hit a three with 5:10 remaining in the game to bring the Huskies within eight, 65-57.

The Huskies would continue to trade baskets with the Mustangs down the stretch but could not close the gap any further and fell 76-66. Hayden Jordan finished the game with 20 points with 18 of those points coming in the second half. Javion Glenn's performance off the bench was a much-needed spark for the Huskies in their comeback attempt. He scored 15 points, shooting 5-7 from the field with a pair of clutch three-pointers.

Word of Life will be back on the road, taking on Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Wednesday, January 29th.
