Monaca, PA – Penn State Beaver Women's Volleyball hosted La Roche tonight in an out of conference matchup. Beaver was looking to grab their second win in a row after they swept Penn State New Kensington in their last match.
At the start of the match Beaver went down early 6-1. After this rough start Beaver was able to recover well and come back and tie the game at eleven a piece. The momentum that Beaver had forced La Roche to take a timeout to reset. After returning from the timeout the two teams traded points back and forth until the score was 16-16. La Roche was able to put together an important five point run to take the lead 21-16. Unfortunately, this came at the wrong time for Beaver, and they lost the set 25-20. In set two La Roche picked up right where they left off and were playing well as a team. They did not allow Beaver to score more than a couple points at a time and would handedly win the second set 25-14. Going into the third set the score was 2-0 for La Roche and they had all the momentum to start the set. This momentum allowed the team to get off to an early 5-1 lead. Beaver was able to steal some of the momentum back and brought the score back to within one point at 14-13. After a great effort to come back from Beaver La Roche responded well and went on a seven-point run to take the lead 21-13. After that run La Roche went on to win the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
