MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER LOSES ROAD MATCH VERSUS  NATIONALLY-RANKED PENN STATE-LEHIGH VALLEY

CENTER VALLEY, PA—United Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Pennsylvania State University (4-0-1) sophomore Michael Meyers Jr scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute as the seventh-ranked Nittany Lions defeated the eighth-ranked USCAA Division I Manor Blue Jays (3-3-0), 2-1.  

The match was scoreless at halftime. This is the fourth time in the last five matches this season that the Blue Jays were tied at halftime. This was also the second straight match that it was a scoreless halftime tie.   Manor outshot Lehigh Valley in the first half, seven (three on goal) to five (none on goal).

Heriberto Hernandez' unassisted goal gave the Nittany Lions its first lead (71:11). It was his first goal of the season. The Blue Jays tied the match following a Lehigh Valley foul around the six-yard line shortly after a corner kick.  Manor senior defenseman Maximo Chavez' (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) penalty kick went into the middle of the net for his third goal of the season (78:09). It was Chavez' second penalty kick goal of the season.  Meyers scored the game-winning goal, with an assist by senior Jack Montesdeoca (84:33).  Lehigh Valley outshot Manor in the second half, 13 (10 on goal) to seven (three on goal).  The Nittany Lions outshot the Blue Jays for the match, 18 (10 on goal) to 14 (six on goal).

This was Manor's first match versus a nationally-ranked team this season.

Manor on the Penalty Kick (Since 2021): The Blue Jays are three-for-three overall (two-for-two on the road) in penalty kicks this season.  They are four-for-seven overall (two-for-three on the road) since the 2021 season.

The Blue Jays versus the Association (Since 2021): The Blue Jays are 21-14-1 overall (9-6-0 on the road) versus the USCAA.

Manor on the Road (Since 2021): Manor is 10-12-1 on the road since the 2021 season.

The Blue Jays versus the PSUAC (Since 2021): The Blue Jays are 6-2-0 overall (1-1-0 on the road) versus the PSUAC.

Series Record (Since 2021): Manor is 2-2-0 overall versus Lehigh Valley (0-2-0 on the road).

Manor as a Nationally-Ranked Team: The Blue Jays are 1-2-0 overall (0-2-0 on the road) as a nationally-ranked team this season.  They are 4-5-0 overall (0-5-0 on the road) since the 2021 season.

Next Match: Manor hosts the 12th-ranked USCAA Division II and Eastern States Athletic Conference foe Williamson College of the Trades (4-2-1 overall, 1-2 ESAC) on Thursday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays swept the 2023 season series (4-0 on October 12 at Williamson and 6-3 on October 26 at Manor).  Manor is 5-0-1 overall (2-0-1 at home) versus Williamson since the 2021 season.  The Blue Jays are 10-7-0 overall (5-3-1 at home) versus the ESAC. 

Next Road Match: The Blue Jays travel to play the USCAA Division II Christendom College Crusaders on Saturday, October 5 at 3:45 p.m. in Front Royal, Virginia.  Manor won its inaugural match, 1–0, on October 21, 2023 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  This will be the Blue Jays first visit to the Crusaders.
