Beaver Falls in Set Five Against Shenango
Beaver fell just short of handing Shenango first conference loss.
Sharon, PA – Penn State Beaver women's volleyball traveled to Shenango in search of another conference win. Going into this game Shenango has a perfect record against other conference opponents.
Beaver got off to a slow start in the first set when they went down 20-11. This did not stop them from fighting back since they went on a very good 14-3 run to steal the first set from Shenango by a score of 25-23. In the second set, Beaver got a much better start with both teams battling back and forth until Shenango had a 17-15 lead. After this Shenango went on a good run for themselves to win the set 25-16. Going into the third set the match was all tied up and left a best two out of three to decide the match. The third set was a nail-biter with both teams fighting hard for the advantage going into the fourth set. Beaver ended up winning the third set 25-22 and took the lead in the match 2-1. In the fourth set, Beaver could not string a run of points together, resulting in Shenango slowly building a lead until they won the set 25-16. With the match tied at 2-2 they went into a 5th and final set to decide a winner. The fifth set had both teams trading the lead several times. First, Shenango went up 9-6. Then, Beaver came back and took a three-point lead to make the score 13-10. Shenango was able to respond with a five-point run to end the set 15-13 and take the match by a score of 3-2.
