Penn State Shenango Baseball Sweeps Lorain County CC in Explosive Doubleheader

The Penn State Shenango Baseball team put on an offensive clinic on Sunday, sweeping Lorain County Community College in a doubleheader with wins of 10-9 and 20-7. The victories improved the Lions to 4-8 on the season as they gear up for their next matchup against Penn State DuBois on Friday, March 28.

Game One: Shenango Holds Off Lorain County for Narrow Victory In a back-and-forth battle, the Nittany Lions edged out Lorain County CC 10-9 thanks to a balanced offensive attack and clutch pitching late in the game.

Troy Bachman led the charge, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Mason Bevan added a key two-run double, while Mikey Guarnieri drove in three runs. Logan Cypher also contributed with two RBIs.

On the mound, Mason Walker started strong, throwing five innings while allowing five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Nate Evans ran into trouble in the sixth inning, allowing four runs without recording an out, but Will Perry (1-0) stepped up in relief to secure the win with two perfect innings, striking out four.

Game Two: Nittany Lions Explode for 20 Runs The Shenango offense erupted in the second game, tallying 21 hits en route to a dominant 20-7 victory.

Eight different players recorded at least one RBI, with Jason Malley leading the way with four. Logan Cypher and John Perry each drove in three, while Troy Bachman, Nate Evans, and Dominic Fornataro added multi-RBI performances. Bachman also racked up two doubles, and Malley had three extra-base hits.

On the mound, Jacob Werner started and worked three innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits. Luke Atterholt (1-0) earned the win in relief, tossing two innings while allowing just one run and striking out three. Nick Osborne closed out the game with two scoreless frames.

With the sweep, Penn State Shenango looks to carry their momentum into their next matchup on Friday, March 28, when they take on Penn State DuBois.
