Game 1: Henry Ford College 12, Penn State Schuylkill 3
Penn State Schuylkill started strong but couldn't hold off Henry Ford College, falling 12-3 in Friday's opener. The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by Andrew Klotz's RBI single and RayJay Marmolejos driving in a run. Brandon Pupek (1-for-3, RBI) also contributed with a fielder's choice groundout that scored a run.
Despite the early momentum, Henry Ford took over in the later innings, exploding for eight runs in the fifth, fueled by Dylan Scholz's two-run double and Casey Robertson's two-RBI single. Schuylkill managed eight hits, including multi-hit performances from Owen Shoop (2-for-3, 2B, R) and Kevin Rodriguez (1-for-3, R), but struggled to capitalize with runners on base.
On the mound, Conner Licklider (0-1) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings. Dominic Colon and Hunter Sharrow combined for the final 1.2 innings but couldn't slow down the Henry Ford offense.
Game 2: Penn State Schuylkill 5, Penn State Shenango 3
The Lions bounced back in the nightcap with a 5-3 victory over Penn State Shenango, securing their second win of the season behind a balanced offensive and defensive effort.
Schuylkill jumped out early, plating three runs in the first inning thanks to Brenan Adams (1-for-2, RBI, SB) driving in RayJay Marmolejos (1-for-3, 2 R, BB), followed by Roman Cieless (1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI) and Brandon Pupek (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) adding extra-base hits to push the lead to 3-0. Dan Zimmerman (2-for-3, HR, RBI, R) provided a big insurance run with a solo homer in the fourth.
On the mound, Brenan Adams (1-0) delivered a strong 5.1-inning start, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out four. Owen Zimmerman came in for the save, throwing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit.
