Monaca, PA – Penn State Beaver Men's soccer team played their home opener today against Thiel College. Beaver was looking to bounce back after a close loss in their last match against Muskingum.
Early in the match Thiel College had Beaver under pressure, taking 6 shots in the first ten minutes. Beaver was able to counter with some pressure of their own, but Thiel would end up finding the first goal to go up 1-0. Only 7 minutes later Beaver's Robert Chauvenne (Georgetown, PA) answered back to tie the game. Beaver was able to keep up the pressure and Robert Chauvenne grabbed his second goal in the to take the lead before half-time.
Beaver held on to their one goal advantage for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Thiel found an equalizer in the 55th minute. Thiel held on to the momentum well and found their third goal of the game with 15 minutes left. As Beaver pushed hard for a game tying goal Thiel got their 4th goal to go up 4-2, which is where the game would end.
Penn State Beaver plays their next match on Saturday September 7th against Berkley New Jersey at 1:00pm.
