WATERVILLE, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team went on the road to play against NCAA Div. 3 Thomas College on Thursday Sept. 5. The Terriers would take a 2-0 victory over the Seawolves.
The first half would end with both teams struggling to find the back of the net, making the score 0-0 going into halftime. In the second half, the Terriers took the lead in the 51st minute when Joshua Joseph scored a goal that was assisted by David Ivarsson. The Terriers would once again find the back of the net in the 72nd minute when Kris Loubier connected a shot that was assisted by Craig Coventry. In the final eighteen minutes of play, the Seawolves were unable to score, leading to the Terriers victory.
The Terriers had 14 shots throughout the game, eight of those being shots on goal. The Seawolves had a total of 10 shots, five of those being shots on goal. Freshman Jeannot Ndayishimiye (Portland, Maine), sophomore Giovani Lopez (Casco, Maine), and captain William Perry (Gorham, Maine) had identical stat lines with two shots and one shot on goal.
The Seawolves fall to a record of 1-1 on the season.
The Seawolves next game will be on the road where they will head down to NJCAA Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) on Saturday Sept. 7. Kickoff in Lincoln, Rhode Island is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
