Seawolves squander early lead at CMCC

AUBURN, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team traveled up to Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Thursday, Sept. 19. 

The Seawolves would get on the scoreboard first when junior forward Jil-Emmanuel Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) scored an unassisted goal, to take a 1-0 lead. In the 38th minute, the Mustangs would answer when Ivan Domingues found the back of the net, unassisted, to even the score 1-1 going into halftime. 

In the second, Ivan Domingues would score his second of the game at the 45th minute mark, off an assist from Igor Domingues, to take a 2-1 lead over the Seawolves. Igor Domingues extended CMCC's lead when he rattled off back-to-back goals at the 55th and 56th minute mark, increasing the home team's advantage to 4-1.

SMCC would get one back in the 72nd minute when freshman forward Chandrel Laza (Westbrook, Maine) netted his second of the season. The Seawolves were unable to find another scoring opportunity.

The Mustangs' attack put together 21 shots, nine of those being on goal. The Seawolves ended with eight shots, three on frame.

The Seawolves slip to 2-2 on the season and return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 in a matchup with Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Kickoff at Wainwright Sports Complex is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
