7th Heaven For Men’s Soccer in Win vs Paul Smith’s

Auburn, ME – Both Igor Domingues and Ivan Domingues scored hat tricks and Stephan Samba added his first in a Mustangs jersey, as the CMCC men's soccer team romped to a 7-0 victory over previously unbeaten Paul Smith's College on Sunday afternoon in Auburn. Ivan completed his second hat trick of the season in the first half and dealt out assists to his brother on all three of Igor's goals as well.

Igor Dominguez got the scoring started at the 8:15 mark. Off a short corner, Mitch Cameron crossed the ball into the mixer for Ivan to nod towards the back post, leaving Igor to simply volley home with his left foot.

Three minutes later, it was Ivan Domingues turn to find the net. Matty Waters' long ball forward picked out David Nzuzi, who squared it for Ivan to knock in with a one-time shot. Shortly after, a handball in the box gave Ivan a chance for another from the penalty spot. The Lewiston native tucked it away for a 3-0 CMCC lead inside of 15 minutes. It was Ivan's third straight game with a penalty kick goal.

Ivan completed his natural hat trick at the 25:48 mark of the first half. This time Igor set him up with a pass back to the top of the box. The junior was able to curl home a low effort into the bottom left corner to make it 4-0.

Igor grabbed his second with less than ten minutes remaining in the half. Jeremiah Gomez fed it forward to Ivan who touched it beyond the defender into the penalty area. Igor faked a shot to get goalkeeper Cazmir Couble to commit, and after rounding him, rolled the ball into the back of the net for a 5-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Igor finished off his own hat trick in similar style. Once again, Gomez and Ivan provided the link up passes. This time Couble got a hand to it as Igor tried to dribble past him, but the forward was still able to poke it home. His third goal made it 6-0 in the 63rd minute.

The scoring was capped off in some style in the 83rd minute, with a newcomer getting his name on the scoresheet. Harrison Garcia passed it back to Derrick Ofori who crossed to Stephan Samba in the middle of the field. Samba's first touch brought a bouncing ball down in front of him, while his second drilled a dipping volley into the bottom corner. He celebrated his first-career goal in style with a high-rising back flip celebration in front of his teammates.

The Mustangs saw things out from there to claim a 7-0 win and hand Paul Smith's College its first loss of the campaign. CMCC improves to 3-0-0 in YSCC play and 7-1-1 on the season. Central Maine has nearly a full two week break before their next match, when they host Vermont State University-Randolph on Saturday, October 5th. Kick-off is set for 3:00 pm.
