Men's Soccer Battles with Penn State Brandywine

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Soccer lost to NCAA Division III opponent Penn State Brandywine, 8-4.

Brandywine seized control of the match in the first half, netting four goals before the break. They extended their lead early in the second half, scoring just 33 seconds into play, followed by another goal a minute later.

Facing a 6-0 deficit, Schuylkill refused to back down. At the 61:39 mark, Michael Merianos (North Wales, PA / Wissahickon) connected with Zack Wilcox (Covington, PA / North-Penn Mansfield) for Schuylkill's first goal. Less than four minutes later, Jonah Zias (Saint Clair, PA / Pottsville) scored off an assist from Isaac Smith (Apo, Germany / Wiesbaden) and Aramis Rosario-Gonzalez (Columbia, MD / Glenelg Country), narrowing the gap to four. Schuylkill's momentum continued as Smith found the back of the net at 66:03, giving them their third goal in under five minutes.

Brandywine responded swiftly, ending Schuylkill's scoring run with goals at the 66:52 and 74:55 marks. However, Schuylkill made a final statement when Jake Moser (Pottstown, PA / Pottstown) assisted David Monjaraz (Shenandoah, PA / Shenandoah Valley) for the last goal of the game at 88:05.

In goal for Schuylkill, Bryce Hensley (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain) and Nicholas Harner (Pine Grove, PA / Pine Grove) split time. Hensley saved 13 of 17 shots on target, while Harner stopped 6 of 10 attempts.

Schuylkill (1-10 overall, 1-4 PSUAC) will travel to Penn State York for their next matchup on Monday, October 14th.
