Mont Alto survives slow first half to sweep weekend action

Penn State Mont Alto 98, Penn State Schuylkill 86

Schuylkill, Pa- Mont Alto men's basketball went up against Penn State Schuylkill for a PSUAC matchup. A close game ended up going in favor of Mont Alto with help from a 26-point performance from Jonathan Pang.

 

How it Happened

-Schuylkill would start off hot with a three pointer from Issac Lane which would make their lead 18-12.  

-Soon after Mont Alto would respond making the score 23-23 with 11 minutes left in the first half.

-The rest of the first half was a back-and-forth battle with Mont Alto pulling away with only four minutes left, making the score 49-37 going into halftime.  

-Mont Alto would control the lead for the rest of the game and ended up coming away with the victory. A 24 point game from Jonathan Pang and a 20 point game from Caleb Eckert helped Mont Alto seal the win.

 

Mont Alto Leaders:

Jonathan Pang- 24 points, 3 assists

Caleb Eckert- 20 points, 2 assists

Bryson Fleming- 18 points, 8 assists

 

Schuylkill Leaders:

Amir Gray- 26 points, 5 rebounds

Makhi Jones- 14 points, 1 assist

Issac Lane- 12 points, 4 rebounds

 

Penn State Mont Alto 75, Penn State Greater Allegheny 53

Mont Alto, Pa- Mont Alto men's basketball went up against Penn State Greater Allegheny for a PSUAC matchup. This was a back-and-forth game in the beginning, but Mont Alto would finish strong giving them their fifth straight win.

 

How it Happened

-Both teams came out ready to play, with the lead only being 11 points in favor of Mont Alto. Greater Allegheny would respond, making the game 27-21 Mont Alto with only a minute left in the first half.   

-In the second half, Jonathan Pang helped Mont Alto take a commanding lead with two 3-point shots.  

- Mont Alto also had help in the second half from Caleb Eckert as he scored 17 of his 23 points with 2 of them being 3-point shots. 

- The rest of the second half was controlled by Mont Alto, getting their lead up to 22 points by the end of the game.

 

Mont Alto Leaders:

Caleb Eckert- 23 points, 9 rebounds

Veron Talla- 14 points, 8 rebounds

Jonathan Pang- 13 points, 2 rebounds

 

Greater Allegheny Leaders:

Biagio Crossley- 13 points, 4 rebounds

Bryce Phillips- 12 points, 8 rebounds

Elijah Hannon- 11 points, 12 rebounds
