PENN STATE SCHUYLKILL PUNCHES TICKET TO USCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH FINAL FOUR WIN
Buffalo, NY – For the first time this season, and at the most critical moment, Penn State Schuylkill got the best of Penn State Mont Alto, securing a 54-39 victory in the USCAA Final Four. The win advances Schuylkill to the USCAA National Championship Game, set for Saturday at 8 PM.
This marked the fourth meeting between the two teams this season, but Schuylkill had yet to notch a win—until now. And they did it in emphatic fashion.
Lightning-Fast Start Sets the Tone
From the opening tip, Schuylkill played with urgency, jumping out to a commanding 20-2 lead midway through the first half. Isaac Lane (23 points, 7 rebounds) was electric, scoring in transition and knocking down tough shots in the paint. Dashawn Dixon (14 points, 10 rebounds) anchored the interior, helping Schuylkill dominate the glass with a 40-29 rebounding advantage.
Defensively, Schuylkill set the tone early, holding Mont Alto to just 12 first-half points, the lowest scoring half of the season for their opponent. Antwuan Byrd ran the offense effectively, finishing with 11 assists and 6 rebounds, while Makhi Jones contributed 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Mont Alto's Push Falls Short
Mont Alto came out with more energy in the second half, cutting the lead to single digits on multiple occasions. But every time they threatened, Schuylkill responded. Lane's steady scoring, combined with timely defensive stops and clutch 3 point shooting from Andrew Sepp, kept Mont Alto from ever fully clawing back into the game.
Looking Ahead
With the win, Schuylkill advances to the USCAA National Championship Game on Saturday at 8 PM. After knocking off the No. 1 seed in decisive fashion, they'll look to carry this momentum into the biggest game in program history.
