Kevin Rodriguez was untouchable on the mound Friday night, throwing his second no-hit, no-run performance of the season as Atlantis University dominated the MAU Macaws in a 16-0 rout. The right-hander was in complete control, striking out eight batters over seven innings while allowing just three walks to secure the shutout victory.
While Rodriguez was lights-out on the hill, Eddy Perez stole the show at the plate. The star catcher delivered a 4-for-6 performance, driving in four runs, including a three-run double in the seventh inning and another RBI double in the second.
Offensive Fireworks Early and Often
Atlantis University wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring four runs in the first inning. Marco Medina opened the scoring with a two-run double, followed by a Jony Vasallo RBI double and an MAU error that brought home another run. The offense kept rolling in the second inning, with Perez lacing an RBI double to extend the lead. Jonathan Mustelier then grounded into a fielder's choice that plated another run, and Vasallo came through again with a two-run single, making it 8-0 early.
Atlantis continued piling on the runs throughout the game, finishing with 15 hits. Oscar Caicedo, Nathaniel Gomez, and Vasallo all recorded multi-hit performances. The team also showed great patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks, with Caicedo, Medina, and Alex Socarras each working two free passes.
Flawless Defense and Smart Baserunning
Atlantis backed up Rodriguez's gem with a perfect defensive effort, playing error-free baseball and turning two double plays. Perez anchored the defense with a game-high eight chances, while Caicedo swiped two bases, adding to the team's aggressive approach.
