SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team won three straight sets, in their final regular season game, against NHTI on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Before the game, Head Coach Garrett Lewellen celebrated both Elise Kaplan (Cumberland, Maine) and Scarlette Sawyer (Windham, Maine) with a senior day recognition joined by their families and teammates.

The Seawolves would take the lead in the first set when they defeated the Lynx 25-18. The Seawolves fell down by eight points early in the second set, but rallied to find their stride and won 25-20. SMCC compiled their best offensive performance of the afternoon in the third, accumulating a 20.8% kill percentage, to secure a 3-0 victory over the Lynx.

The duo of Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) and Lillian Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) combined for 15 kills and four service aces. Captain Anna White (Buxton, Maine) and first-year Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) teamed up for 26 digs. Captain Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) would total a little more than half of her team's total assists with 15.

The Seawolves finish the regular season with a 16-2 overall record, and a conference-best 11-1 mark. SMCC earns a bye to the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoffs, to be hosted by NHTI in Concord, N.H. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Time and opponent are TBD.
