
The Berkeley College men's soccer team has continued to play well down the stretch of the 2024 campaign, compiling a record of 2-1-1 in recent matches. Back on Sunday, October 6, the Knights edged the Mighty Oaks of SUNY-ESF by a score of 3-2. Following a 2-0 defeat to Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) two days later (October 8), the Knights when deadlocked Word of Life 2-2 in a home match on October 9, before silencing Penn State LeHigh Valley by a score of 3-2 on October 16.
Sunday, October 6, 2024 – Berkeley 3, SUNY-ESF 2
In a road game at SUNY-ESF, Berkeley fell behind 1-0 as Mighty Oaks standout Damien Terrell netted an unassisted goal in the 40th minute. The Knights rallied after that, netting three second half goals to snatch a 3-1 advantage. Michael Paredes (60th minute, unassisted), Steven Urbes (70th minute, from Ian Pallardel), and Gabriel Barreto (77th minute, from Urbes) were the goal scorers for the visitors. The Mighty Oaks added a late goal when Sam Tymeson scored, but Berkeley held on for the 3-2 triumph.
Tuesday, October 8, 2024 – Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) 2, Berkeley 0
The Knights put forth a valiant effort against the Bobcats, but ultimately came up short in this contest. After 72 minutes of scoreless soccer, Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) broke through for two goals in a 10-minute span, the first coming courtesy of Ryan Kearney (73rd minute, assisted by Aidan Marshall King), and the latter from Keigan Young (82nd minute, assisted by Adnan Belani).
Bryant & Stratton-Rochester out-shot Berkeley 14-7 for the match. The Bobcats' Benjamin Hafner registered a shutout in the net, stopping all seven shots that he faced. His counterpart, the Knights' Victor Batista, made eight saves while yielding two scores.
Wednesday, October 9, 2024 – Word of Life Bible 2, Berkeley 2
In the Knights' latest home match, Berkeley wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, getting a goal in the opening minute, courtesy of Steven Urbes, who redirected Kareem Davis' pass into the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the hosts. The Huskies would then score the next two goals, with Joseph Matthews finding the back of the net in the 21st and 35th minutes of the opening half. Jesse Jenkins assisted on the first of those two goals. Berkeley tied the match at two apiece just before halftime, with Imanol Florez scoring (44:30, from Fernando Morales).
Despite Berkeley holding a commanding 12-0 edge in shots in the second half, the Knights weren't able to register a potential match-winning goal, as the teams settled for a 2-2 tie.
Wednesday, October 16, 2024 – Berkeley 3, Penn State LeHigh Valley 2
The Knights earned a dominant 3-0 victory over the Nittany Lions this past Wednesday. Florez scored via a helper by Marco DaSilva in the 15th minute (14:03) to give Berkeley the early 1-0 advantage. Later in the half, Marco DaSilva's tally in the 42nd minute (41:45) put the Knights ahead 2-0. Berkeley capped its scoring for the day at 65:56 when Davis tapped home Fabrizio Souza's feed.
Berkeley out-shot Penn State LeHigh Valley by a count of 21-10, and Jack Giannini earned a victory and a shutout, making six saves in the process. Nittany Lions netminder Jonathan Smith took the loss in net, yielding three goals and stopping 10 shots.

Berkeley College will return to the pitch on Sunday, October 27, as the Knights will host the Sound of Five Towns College. Start-time at Frank D. Zaccaria Memorial Park is scheduled for 1:00pm.
