POTTERSVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team secured a victory, 3-1, over Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) member Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Seawolves started on fire taking the first two sets by double digit margins, 25-11 and 25-9. The Huskies responded in the third set, winning 25-23, looking to spark a comeback. SMCC would end the Huskies hopes in the fourth when they displayed their best offensive performance of the match with a 42.9% kill percentage, propelling them to a 3-1 victory.
First-year Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) had everything rolling totaling 15 kills and six service aces for a 22.0 point performance. First-year Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) added seven aces and 14 digs for the Seawolves. First-year Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) contributed six kills and a team-high 17 assists.
The Seawolves' victory improved them to 11-0 on the season, 7-0 in YSCC action.
