SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The #4 Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team hosted #5 Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) quarterfinal action Sunday, Oct. 27.

The matchup between the Seawolves and the Panthers would prove to be a thrilling contest. Both teams battled to a 0-0 draw to finish 90 minutes of regulation. The game moved along to see two 15-minute overtime periods, but despite the added time, the contest remained scoreless. Penalty kicks would decide the outcome.

Sophomore Jadyn Eastman (South Berwick, Maine), first-year Amya Braley (Pittsfield, Maine), and senior Ammelia Lunt (West Gardiner, Maine) would convert their penalty chances to set the stage for a game-winning attempt by sophomore Isabella Tanis (Brewer, Maine). Tanis buried hers to the lower left corner to send the Seawolves to the next round.

ACPHS accumulated 18 shots throughout the contest; SMCC racked up a spectacular 31.

The Panthers goalkeeper Mykala Brodzinski secured 14 saves. The goalkeeper duo of Grayson Soldati (Portland, Maine) and Aubrey Gilbert (Farmingdale, Maine) grabbed a combined total of 12 saves.

The Seawolves move on to battle the top-seeded Lynx from NHTI in the semifinal round on Saturday, Nov. 2. Kickoff at Word of Life Bible Institute (Pottersville, N.Y.) is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
