Myrtle Beach, SC – Penn State Schuylkill (8-7) wrapped up its Spring Break trip in Myrtle Beach on a high note, securing an 11-6 win over SUNY Canton (3-5) at Griffith Field. A strong offensive performance, highlighted by 16 hits, propelled the Lions to victory.
Game Recap:
After a quiet first inning, SUNY Canton struck first in the top of the second with a fielder's choice RBI to take a 1-0 lead. However, Penn State Schuylkill responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, plating four runs to take control. Key hits from Kyle Kaminski, Andrew Klotz, and RayJay Marmolejos sparked the offensive surge.
SUNY Canton battled back, adding two runs in the fourth to close the gap to 4-3, but Schuylkill's bats answered once again. A five-run bottom of the fourth, fueled by Owen Zimmerman's sacrifice fly, a balk, and clutch hits from Brenan Adams and Roman Cieless, extended the Lions' lead to 9-3.
The Roos showed fight in the fifth inning, with Sal Diaz crushing a two-run homer to make it 9-5, and another run scoring on a balk. Yet, Penn State Schuylkill's pitching settled in, allowing just one more hit the rest of the way. The Lions added two insurance runs in the sixth, including an RBI single from Brandon Pupek, to seal the 11-6 victory.
