Lady Seawolves surge on to secure another YSCC win

AUBURN, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team faced Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) at a neutral location on Sunday, Sept. 22, to secure their fifth conference win of the season.  

The Seawolves would take control early, winning two straight sets, 25-11 and 25-18, to take a 2-0 lead over the Panthers. ACPHS gained one back in the third set on its way to a 5-point win. The Seawolves would shut down the Panthers' hopes of a comeback with a fourth set victory, 25-14, to lock in their eighth win of the year.

Looking at individual performances, first-year Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) finished with 12 kills off of 20 attempts and four service aces. First-years Lillian Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) and Scarlette Sawyer (Windham, Maine) combined for 17 kills. As a team, the Seawolves totaled 43 kills and 14 service aces. 

SMCC moves to 8-0 on the season, 5-0 in conference play. 

The Lady Seawolves return home on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to compete against Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) member Great Bay Community College (GBCC) inside the HUB Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
