SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team defeated the Lynx from NHTI in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) tilt at Wainwright Sports Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The Seawolves jumped on the scoreboard first when junior forward Louis Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) tucked one side netting on a delivery from first-year Chandrel Laza (Westbrook, Maine). SMCC would extend its lead at the 31-minute mark when rookie Kaden Pillsbury (Strong, Maine) recorded his first career goal, assisted by first-year Carlos Rodriguez Cruz (Ellsworth, Maine), to give the home team a 2-0 lead at the break.

To begin things in the second half, the Lynx converted a penalty kick courtesy of Sotir Agalliu. L. Sehr obtained his second goal of the afternoon on a free kick opportunity just outside the box to keep SMCC at a safe distance. The Seawolves continued their strong offensive attack, granting themselves a penalty kick opportunity in the 89th minute. Junior forward Jil-Emmanuel Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) put it away to move the differential to three goals.

The Seawolves totaled 30 shots, 13 on target, and junior goalkeeper Ian Allen (Avon, Maine), grabbed three saves in 90 minutes of work.

The results moves SMCC to 5-4 overall, 3-2 in conference action.

Next, the men travel to Bridgton Academy on Tuesday, Oct 8. Kickoff in North Bridgton, Maine is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
