
In a hard-fought match, the Penn State Shenango Volleyball team came up short against Penn State Fayette, losing in four sets with scores of 25-19, 18-25, 22-25, and 24-26. Despite the loss, several Shenango players put up impressive performances.
Cyra Cross led the team offensively with 13 kills on 50 attempts, totaling 13.0 points. Kylee Loreno also contributed significantly with 11 kills and 20 digs, finishing with a total of 12.0 points. Setter Carla Ramirez Ortiz orchestrated the offense with 14 assists, while Jade Shattuck added another 18 assists, three service aces, and 11 digs.
Defensively, Loreno and Cross anchored the backline, with Cross notching a team-high 21 digs, and Loreno close behind with 20. In addition, Jill Dunleavy and Maggie Briggs each added a solo block to Shenango's defensive efforts.
Penn State Shenango will look to bounce back as they head into a non-conference matchup against Wooster on Monday night.
