CONCORD, N.H. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team continued its unbeaten streak after earning a 3-1 win over Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Word of Life Bible Institute on Saturday Sept. 14.
The Seawolves would win the first two sets 25-20 and 25-10, to take a 2-0 lead over the Huskies. Word of Life grabbed a close third set before the Seawolves finished to match in the fourth set winning by a five-point margin.
Freshman Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) and freshman Lillian Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) combined for 20 kills. Freshman Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) totaled 29 assists and seven service aces. First-year Alana Berube (Hollis, Maine) totaled 10 assists with two service aces to help her team to victory.
The Seawolves remain a perfect 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference action.
SMCC returns home to take on Bunker Hill Community College in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, Sept. 18. First serve inside the HUB Athletics Building is set for 6:00 p.m.
