Crusaders Fall to Knights in Road Doubleheader
Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College baseball team faced the Central Penn College Knights in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 30th. The Crusaders fell 6-2 in the first game and 6-1 in the second.

Game 1
Matt O'Hara (Sophomore/ Hershey, PA) led the Crusaders as the starting pitcher, throwing just over four innings and recording 3 strikeouts. Edmund Thomas (Freshman/ Corpus Christi, TX) followed, pitching the remainder of the game. JoeRomero (Sophomore/ Valley Center, CA) performed well on offence, contributing 1 run, 2 doubles and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crusaders got off to a strong start with O'Hara scoring in the first inning off a double by Joe Romero. However, the Knights countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
The second through fourth innings were uneventful for both sides, but the Knights capitalized in the fifth inning, adding three runs to their tally, extending their lead to 6-1. The Crusaders showed hope in the sixth inning, scoring a second run, but the game concluded after the top of the seventh with a final score of 6-2 in favor of Central Penn.
Game 2
Offensively, Peter Sullivan (Junior/ Omaha, NE) and Romero led the stats for the Crusaders. Sullivan recorded 2 hits and an RBI, while Romero added a run and a double. On the mound, Rowland Thornberry (Freshman/ Richmond, VA) started the game, pitching four innings and striking out two batters. Sullivan came in as relief to close out the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first inning ended scoreless, but the Crusaders struck first in the second inning with Sullivan's hit bringing in Romero. The Knights quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Similar to the first inning, the third proved to be quiet for both teams. In the fourth, Central Penn extended their lead with three more runs, bringing the score to 6-1. Despite their efforts, the Crusaders were unable to score again, and the game ended with another 6-1 victory for the Knights.
Next Up: The Crusaders will travel on Saturday, April 5, to take on USCAA and ESAC rival Bucks County Community College in a doubleheader. Games are set for 1 PM and 3 PM.
