Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Men's Soccer Team tied 1-1 in a ranked USCAA game against the Penn State York Nittany Lions this past Wednesday, putting on an impressive game for their fans on Senior Day.
In their last home game of the season, the Crusaders took the field determined to secure the win. After taking control of the game, they were able to obtain the first lead of the match. Senior Joshua Cruz (Senior/ San Diego, CA) led his team with a finish assisted by George Storey (Sophomore/ Amissville, VA). Penn State was unable to answer the Crusaders momentum in the first half, and the first 45 minutes came to close with Christendom over the Nittany Lions 1-0.
Carrying their composure into the second half, the Crusaders maintained the lead for the majority of the half. The defense worked hard to shut down Penn State's attack. The Nittany Lions eventually found the back of the net on a penalty kick which tied the game up 1-1. Although Christendom worked hard to build back their momentum, they were unable to capitalize, and the final whistle brought the match to a close in a 1-1 draw.
Thanks to the hard work and immense leadership presence of Christendom's seniors: Sean Corcoran (Senior/ Lawrence, NJ), Michael Townsend (Senior/ Front Royal, VA), John Paul Tsakanikas (Senior/ Front Royal, VA), Joshua Cruz (Senior/ San Diego, CA) and Andrew Snyder (Senior/ Glen Rock, PA), the Christendom Men's Soccer Team has had a great year and has developed greatly over the past 4 seasons. The team has many players that have risen into leadership positions and will carry the Crusaders after this year's Seniors.
Up Next: The Crusaders will travel to Williamson on Friday, October 25, to play in a conference game at 5pm.
