PSUAC Women's Soccer Championship: Penn State Schuylkill 2, Penn State Mont Alto 1
University Park, Pa.- Mont Alto women's soccer traveled to Panzer Stadium on Tuesday afternoon in hopes of winning their fourth straight PSUAC title. The bid fell short in an overtime loss to Penn State Schuylkill 2-1. Schuylkill applied offensive pressure from the start, as Grace Fenstermacher hit the post on a shot two minutes in action. Mont Alto finished the first half with plenty of opportunities, but couldn't find the back of the net as the score remained tied 0-0.
Mont Alto scored first in the championship contest in the 63rd minute when Grace Lochner crossed a ball on goal and it was headed into the goal by a Schuylkill defender. Twelve minutes later, Schuylkill answered when Britney Holland was saved by Sophie Bowersox and Gaby Navorro cleaned up the rebound.
The remainder of the second half remained scoreless as both teams headed into championship overtime. Mont Alto had a few chances early before Schuylkill reversed field and Britney Holland was able to defeat Bowersox to give Schuylkill its first PSUAC title. Both teams will hope for an at-large bid in the USCAA bid show today at 4:30pm.
