Mechanics Get Back to Their Winning Ways

The Williamson offense started a bit slowly in Thursday night's home contest against backyard opponent Delaware County Community College, before exploding for three goals in an eleven-minute span on the way to a 4-2 win over the Phantoms.

After both teams were scoreless for the first 23 minutes of the game, Williamson broke the ice with a goal by Brandon Cairy on an assist from Michael Hegarty to put them up 1-0.  The Mechanics increased their lead to 2-0 at the 16:56 mark when Richard Lusch blasted a follow-up shot into the net, with Dan Maroney getting the assist.

At that point, things looked pretty good for Williamson-that was before the Phantoms exploded for two goals in under a minute to tie things up.  Robert Farmer scored at the 15:19 mark and then Alvin Gayee scored at the 14:25 mark and things were even at 2-2.

Fortunately for Williamson fans, things did not stay tied for long.  Less than three minutes later, Zachary Bosak scored off a nice feed from Cairy to put Williamson up 3-2.  Cairy then closed out the scoring for the first half-and the game-when he scored with just five minutes left to put Williamson up 4-2.  Colin Catrambone got the assist on Cairy's second goal of the game.

In the second half, both team's defenses tightened things up, as neither team was able to score and the game ended at 4-2.  Williamson's backline of Dylan Burke, Dan Maroney, Richard Lusch and Colin Catrambone played a tremendous second half to shut down the Phantoms attack.

Williamson moves to 5-3 on the year and has little time to celebrate, as they get right back in action tomorrow afternoon in a rare Friday home game against Crown College in a 3:00 P.M. start
