SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team emerged victorious, 2-1, against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) at Wainwright Sports Complex on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Panthers started strong, getting on the scoreboard first in the 36th minute with a free kick goal from Sahil Arora—sending ACPHS into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
In the 57th minute, sophomore Tim Eulenberger (Iffezheim, Germany) landed a shot off an assist from captain William Perry (Gorham, Maine) to equalize. The Seawolves would take the lead in the 70th minute when junior forward Louis Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) connected a shot off a delivery from freshman Carlos Rodriguez Cruz (Ellsworth, Maine). SMCC would play out the remainder to earn a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) win.
The Panthers goalkeeper, Ryan Herrick, totaled 12 saves, while the Seawolves goalkeeper, Ian Allen (Avon, Maine) grabbed four saves.
ACPHS totaled 15 shots, five on target; the Seawolves combined for 25 shots, 14 on frame. The Seawolves second half offensive presence was the catalyst for their comeback victory.
The Seawolves are now 3-2 on the season, 1-0 in league action.
Men's Soccer goes on the road to face York County Community College (YCCC) on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Kickoff at Sanford High School (Sanford, Maine) is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
