First Win Caps History Making Night in Corning
History was made on Wednesday in Corning as Dorian Sharp became the first Bobcat to record a quadruple-double, leading Bryant & Stratton to their first victory in program history.
Sharp paced the Bobcats with 23 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. The record setting performance could have been that much more impressive had she picked up one more block. Sharp knocked away nine Red Baron attempts, falling one shy of recording a quintuple-double on the night.
Shanell Glover added 22 more points for the Bobcats as they rolled to an 80-62 victory over Corning Community College.
The Bobcats' record setter got started early as Sharp knocked down four three-pointers in the first half, helping BSC build a 26-15 lead in the first quarter. That nine-point lead wouldn't hold as the Red Barons clawed back, though the Bobcats managed to keep a five-point advantage at 38-33.
Bryant & Stratton blew the game open in the third quarter thanks to dominating post play from Glover. She picked up 10 of her 22 points in the third quarter alone, helping the Bobcats extend their lead to 61-45 after three.
The offense kept rolling in the final frame, outscoring Corning 19-17 and locking up Bryant & Stratton's first win on the season and in program history.
"This was a great team win and what I envisioned when I put this team together," said head coach Sean Knorr. "We still have a lot of work to do, but it is a beginning. I am proud of [our team]."
Bryant & Stratton will carry their momentum to Summerdale, PA and a doubleheader with the men's team against Central Penn on Saturday afternoon.
