Beaver Lions Face Crushing Defeat at Shenango

Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver Lions took on Penn State Shenango at an away game Friday, February 21st walking away in a 75-80 defeat. The first half would start with Third-year Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) making a layup for Beaver that would quickly be refuted by Shenango. Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) would retaliate this with a quick 3-point jump shot. Beaver would build up an impressive lead over Shenango during the first half, creating a 21-14 lead by the halfway mark of this half. Shenango would try to catch up, but Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) would once again help Beaver maintain thier lead with another 3-point jump shot, followed by another one from First-year Ronyell Coston (Eastern Shore, VA). The last score of this half would be a buzzer beater by Third-year Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) in a jump shot with an assist from First-year Joe Pinto (Kenilworth, NJ). 

Beaver would enter the second half with a 41-32 lead on Shenango. Shenango would spend the first few minutes clawing back points but Beavers Third-year Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA) working to maintain Beavers lead in a layup. At the twelve minute mark, Beaver and Shenango would be tied 53-53. Second-year Alex Green (Chicago, IL) would jump Beavers lead back up with a 3-pointer, followed by a free throw from Fourth-year Matt Brown (Upland, CA). Ultimately, Shenango would take Beavers lead and soon be locked in a cat and mouse game for points. Shenango would pull away, but not before another 3-point shot by Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) could be made. Beaver would last shoot with eight seconds left in the match in a layup by Second-year Alex Green (Chicago, IL) earning Beaver a final score of 75. 

Second-year Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) would be the leading Lion for Beaver, scoring 18 of the 75 total points scored. He would see this through with 5 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal, and 0 blocks. Following him would be a tie between Third-year Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) and Third-year Jabari Gayle (Stafford, VA), both earning 13 points for our Lions.
