SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team hosted Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Great Bay Community College (GBCC) inside the HUB Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The Lady Seawolves would win three straight sets to get their sixth conference win of the season. The first set would feature the Seawolves best offensive display, with a 55.6% kill percentage, leading them to a 25-10 victory. The Seawolves took the next two sets by double digit margins, 25-13 and 25-12, on their way to keeping their perfect season intact.
First-year Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine) landed 10 kills off 15 attempts and added six service aces. First-year Lillian Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) recorded the highest kill percentage for her team at 54.5% and to include two service aces. First- year Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) tallied 13 assists and added six service aces.
The Seawolves are now 9-0 on the season, 6-0 in league action.
The Lady Seawolves return to action on the road against NJCAA Northern Essex Community College (NECC) on Thursday, Sept. 26. First serve in Haverhill, Massachusetts is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
