MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Soccer faced off against former PSUAC rival Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday in a tightly contested match that ended in a scoreless draw.
Schuylkill set the tone early, with Zoë Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) leading the charge by taking two quick shots. Brandywine managed only one attempt in the first half, which was safely handled by Schuylkill's goalkeeper, Victoria Grimm (Jonestown, PA / Northern Lebanon Area), at the 19:31 mark. Schuylkill maintained offensive pressure throughout the first half, recording a total of eight shots, five of which were saved by Brandywine's goalkeeper.
In the second half, Schuylkill came close to matching their first half shot total, finishing with seven attempts. Of these, three were saved by the Brandywine goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Schuylkill's defense was solid, limiting Brandywine to a single shot in the second half.
Schuylkill (1-1-1 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will enter conference play this Saturday as they host Penn State Beaver in what is there Gold Out Game to promote childhood cancer awareness.
