SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The #4 Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team hosted the #5-seeded Lynx from NHTI in a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, Oct. 27.
The Seawolves would strike first in the 16th minute when junior forward Louis Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) capitalized on a delivery from Jil-Emmanuel Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire). Neither team found another scoring opportunity for the remainder of the half as the Seawolves entered the break 1-0.
In the second half, the Seawolves extended their lead when first-year forward Chandrel Laza (Westbrook, Maine) collected the ball off a rebound to put it by the NHTI keeper in a second attempt. The offensive attack continued at the 75-minute mark when J. Sehr netted his sixth of the season with help from L. Sehr. SMCC would add one more goal to their total in the 80th minute courtesy of first-year forward Kaden Pillsbury (Strong, Maine) assisted by sophomore midfielder Tim Eulenberger (Iffezheim, Germany), securing a 4-0 quarterfinal victory for the Seawolves.
The Seawolves totaled 31 shots throughout, 19 on target. SMCC also did a great job of limiting the Lynx opportunities, holding them to 12 shots on the day.
NHTI goalkeeper Aaron Barrieau, grabbed double digit saves with 15. The Seawolves goalkeeper Ian Allen (Avon, Maine) made four.
