Shenango Fights Hard in Loss to Butler County CC
Penn State Shenango put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell to Butler County Community College in straight sets (20-25, 12-25, 24-26) as they dropped to 0-6 on the season.
 
Sydney Ward led the offensive charge for Shenango, recording 7 kills on 15 attempts with a .267 hitting percentage. She also contributed defensively, adding 1 solo block and 4 block assists, tallying a team-high 10.5 points. Cyra Cross added 7 kills but struggled with efficiency, committing 7 errors on 38 attempts. Cross also contributed defensively with 19 digs and 1 block assist.
 
Setter Jade Shattuck dished out 11 assists, while Carla Ramirez Ortiz added 10, helping Shenango's offensive flow. Shattuck also had a strong performance at the service line, recording 2 aces. Gabby Villanueva Santos anchored the back row with 9 digs, helping Shenango stay in several long rallies.
 
Despite Shenango's best efforts, the team struggled with efficiency, hitting -.024 as a team, committing 29 errors on 123 total attempts. However, their blocking was a bright spot, as they recorded 8 block assists.
 
Penn State Shenango will look to regroup and aim for their first win of the season in their next matchup on Friday night against Penn Highlands CC.
