2017 USCAA Baseball All-American Teams

Congratulations to the 2017 USCAA Baseball All-Americans and special award winners announced Sunday at the pre-tournament banquet.

Student-Athlete of the Year: Brandon Gettig, Penn State DuBois

This year's student-athlete of the year comes from an individual that is involved in the community and has been instrumental in his team's success this season. Brandon Gettis has a 3.8 Cumulative GPA, is a USCAA All-Academic award recipient, and has spent the last three summers as a counselor at Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp for kids. A sophomore infielder, Gettig is also batting .345 and a team-high 18 walks with a .457 on base percentage.

Coach of the Year: Chad Geier, Wright State Lake Campus

Chad Geier is in his second year as Head Coach of the Lakers who enter the tournament setting several program firsts: the program's first wins against a NCAA DII and DIII Schools and the program's first ever national ranking of #1 within the USCAA.

Guiding a team comprised almost entirely of freshman and sophomores, his team has competed and won numerous games against very quality competition. In his first season last year, his record was 14-28. This year, his record is 25-16.

Player of the Year: Robbie Watkins, The Apprentice School

A senior, Robbie Watkins has excelled this season on the mound, in the outfield, and at the plate. On the hill, he has a 5-2 record, 4 saves, with 55 strikeouts and only three walks with a 1.83 earned run average. Not only a force as a pitcher, he has posted a. 342 batting average and is 2^nd in the USCAA in doubles. This dynamic player has also guided his team to a 26-16 record.
