Women's Volleyball Loses Road Matchup to Penn State Mont Alto

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball fell to Penn State Mont Alto in three sets.

Maddy Robinson's (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain) two kills, along with a kill by Ava Seltzer (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Schuylkill Haven) from Ryliegh Sinko (Minersville, PA / Nativity BVM) helped Schuylkill jump out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set. As Mont Alto began to close the gap, timely kills by Sydney Morton (Norfolk, VA / Gateway Christian Academy) and Robinson from Sinko kept Schuylkill in front. However, a 5-2 run by Mont Alto gave them an 8-7 lead, and they maintained control from there, eventually extending their lead to as many as eight points.

Mont Alto's dominance continued in the second set, opening with a 9-0 run and cruising to a comfortable win. In the third set, early kills by Amira Douglas (West Hampstead, NY / Malverne) and Robinson, set up by Sinko, kept Schuylkill within reach. Mont Alto, leading 5-3, extended their advantage to 11-3 before Sinko set up Robinson for another Schuylkill kill, halting the run. Kills by Morton and Douglas from Sinko, combined with Mont Alto errors, cut the deficit to 14-9, but Mont Alto responded with another run, stretching their lead to double digits and sealing the match.

Robinson led Schuylkill with 6 kills. Sinko added 10 assists and 8 digs. Megan Shepherd (Myerstown, PA / Eastern Lebanon County) tallied 12 digs in the loss.

Schuylkill (2-6 overall, 1-3 PSUAC) will return to action on Tuesday, September 24th as they host Bryn Athyn College
