Lady Lions Defeat WCCC Second Time Around

Youngwood, PA - New Kensington traveled to Westmoreland County Community College last night for a non-conference show down. The Lady Lions fell behind after the first set (25-22), but turned things around to win the next three sets in dominant fashion (25-12, 25-17, and 25-13).

Sophomore Elliott Ferrent (Punxsutawney, PA) led the Lady Lions with 13 kills on 39 attacks, while junior Tatum Clayton (Meadowlands, PA) contributed 5 of her own on 12 total attacks. Sophomore Gabby Wolfkill (Mifflin, PA) and junior Hannah Pastor (New Kensington, PA) added three kills apiece to help finish off WCCC.

Wolfkill and freshman Heidi Moser (Great Falls, VA) were on their A game, tallying 4 service aces apiece for the match. Sophomore Kayla Unger (Carlisle, PA) did a great job setting up her teammates, assisting on 16 points throughout. Defensively stout all evening, New Kensington had double digit digs (11) as a team.

The win improves Kew Kensington to 8-15 overall on the season. The Lady Lions look to make it two in a row as they travel to PSU Mont Alto this evening for a conference match.
