Volleyball Sweeps to Victory in First Home Match

Auburn, ME – The Central Maine Community College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 straight sets win over the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Panthers on Sunday afternoon, claiming a YSCC victory in their first home match of the campaign.

The Mustangs took set one 25-13. Keliah Stith helped the team pull away with a run of good serves, turning a 12-6 advantage into a 20-7 lead. Jaki Bartoschek put things away after one of the best rallies of the set, with the fourth attack of the point, seeing a tip shot fall in to put Central Maine up 1-0.

ACPHS would fight back in the second set taking leads of 7-5 and 11-9 before the Mustangs went on another run with Autumn Peterson behind the service line, taking a 16-12 lead and forcing the Panthers to call a timeout. CMCC held on from there for a 25-20 set victory.

Morgan Richards gave Albany a 7-3 lead early in the third set, but Central Maine responded with a six-point swing on kills by Isabella Higgins, Natalie Roy, and Ryleigh Clark. After another ACPHS timeout, the lead continued to balloon from 10-7 to 18-10, and finally a 25-14 victory on an attack error to end the match.

CMCC remains undefeated against USCAA opponents, and gets back on their home court this Tuesday, September 24th when they host NHTI at 6:00 pm.
